Chris & Jayne's Wedding Reception - August 16, 2008

Although we got married on June 7, 2008, it was a very small ceremony and we decided to hold a reception at our home in August. If I had to do it over again, I would have had it catered. But it was still fun! Out of the almost 70 people who RSVP'd that they'd come, almost 50 showed up. We had loads of appetizers, barbecued chicken, steak tips, hamburgers and hot dogs, soda, beer, wine and fun for the kids with a Slip N Slide. Photos are being developed from the disposable cameras we put on each table.

A thunderstorm scattered most of our guests, but those who stuck it out came in the house, where a musician we'd hired set up in the dining room so we could dance the night away. Before he arrived, we did a traditional champagne toast and cut the cake. Photos below show the fun we had. For some reason, my mom loves to stick her tongue out, my stepkids are adorable and my husband is one handsome fella.

Cutting the Cake
I jumped the gun on Chris and smooshed a piece of cake into his face before he could get me. I'm evil!

Notice the top of the cake: A princess and Indiana Jones figure. We were trying to find a cowboy aka backwoods boy, but that's as close as we could get and besides, he looks like Chris with the gray hair and beard scruff. The reason for them? One of our favorite songs is "Living Our Love Song" by Jason Michael Carroll, where it goes:
"People said it would never work out
But living dreams, we shattered all doubts
Feels good to prove 'em wrong
Livin' our love song. . .
. . .Something like this just doesn't exist
Between a backwoods boy and a fairytale princess"

Oh heck, I know it's corny. And yes, that's a tiara on my head.
